CAB secretary Snehashish Ganguly tests +ve for Covid-19; Avishek Dalmiya in home quarantine

Kolkata, Jul 16 (UNI) Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) secretary Snehashish Ganguly, the elder brother of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, has been hospitalised after being tested Covid-19 positive, CAB president Avishek Dalmiya, who is also in home quarantine, said.
"These are tough times. He ( Snehashsih Ganguly) admitted himself yesterday ( Wednesday) night at a city hospital. Other than having mild temperature, he is alright at the moment. Wish him a speedy recovery,''Avishek Dalmiya said on health status of Snehasish Ganguly (55).

''Yes, I would be undergoing home quarantine for the next few days as per required protocol," Mr Dalmiya said in a separate statement on Thursday.

"During the meeting with Police Authorities at Lal Bazar, only I was present on behalf of the Association. However, Snehasish Ganguly had joined during the later part of the brief visit at Eden Gardens,'' he added.

Snehasish’s Covid positive result might also place all his family members, including former India skipper Sourav, under observation/self-isolation through contact tracing protocols.

"It is learnt that Sourav celebrated his birthday on July 8 with all his family members, " a media report said

Meanwhile, a state health bulletin on Wednesday said 1589 new Covid cases have been identified with total figure standing at 34,427 across Bengal and total deaths touched exactly 1000.
The report said 20 people have died of pandemic in past 24 hours up to Wednesday.
