New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) Opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019, Congress floor leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday said the Bill is discriminatory and based on the criterion of religion.
"Because the criterion is religion, this Bill goes against the basic structure of the Constitution," Mr Chowdhury said participating in the debate on the Bill.
"You are making ado about nothing," he said lashing out at the government. He countered the criticism of the earlier Congress governments, by saying that legislation relating to the grant of citizenship was brought at that time only.
