Bypolls: Cash worth Rs 12 lakh seized in Karnataka

Hospet, Dec 3 (UNI) The Election officials have seized a cash of Rs 12 lakh, allegedly carrying in a car without any documents, during a search at a check post here on Tuesday morning.
According to official sources, the car which was stopped and searched by the election officials was coming from Jindal Nagar in Hospet taluk.
Immediately after seizure of the cash, it was informed to the IT officials, who had visited the place and are investigating about the source of the cash which was being carrying in the vehicle.
So far, nobody had came forward to stake claim over the cash, the police sources said.
It may be recalled that the by-election to the Vijayanagara Assembly seat, which fell vacant following the disqualification of the Congress member Anand Singh, is being held on December-5 and election code of conduct was in force in the constituency.
