Bypoll for Chitrakoot Assembly seat in MP on Nov 9

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) The by-election to the Chitrakoot Assembly constituency in Madhya Paradesh will be held on November 9, and results will be declared on November 12, the Election Commission announced here on Friday.
The seat had fallen vacant following the death of Congress legislator Prem Singh.
The notification for the bypolls will be issued on October 16, and nominations can be filed till October 23. Scrutiny will take place on October 24 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 26.
Counting will be taken up on November 12, and results were expected the same day.

EVMs and VVPATs will be used in all the polling stations. Adequate numbers of EVMs and VVPATs have been made available, the Commission said.
The Model Code of Conduct has also come into force with immediate effect in the district(s) in which the whole or any part of the Assembly Constituency going for bye-election is included.
The Code shall be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the State Government concerned. It shall also be applicable to the Union Government for the State concerned, the Election Commission said
The voter’s identification shall be mandatory but, in order to ensure that no voter is deprived of his/her franchise, if his/her name figures in the Electoral Rolls, separate instructions will be issued to allow additional documents for identification of voters at the time of poll in the said by-elections.
The Commission had on Thursday announced that elections to the Himachal Pradesh Assembly will also take place on November 9.
