Bye-elections to Legislative Council of K'taka, Mah on Oct 3

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Bye-elections to the Legislative Council of Karnataka and Maharashtra by the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be held on October 3.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the bye-election schedule to be held to fill three casual vacancies in the Karnataka Legislative Council and one casual vacancy in the Legislative Council of Maharashtra by the Members of Legislative Assembly.
Notifications for the polls will be issued on September 14.
Last date of making nominations is on September 22 while scrutiny of nominations is on September 24.
Last date for withdrawal of candidatures is September 26.
Polling date is on October 3 and it will be held from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs.
The counting of votes is on October 3 at 1700 hrs.
Date before which election will be completed is October 6.

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Terming the claims by the Indian Journalists' Association (Europe), at an event held in London, that the 2014 Lok Sabha polls as well as the 2018 five-state polls were rigged, as a validation of its doubts on the working of the EVMs, the Congress on Monday demanded that at least 50 per cent of the VVPATs should be verified with the paper trails.
