Businessman from Huzurnagar donates Rs 50 lakh for Armed Forces Flag Day fund

Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) Mr Siripuram Vishwanatham, a businessman from Huzurnagar in Telangana has donated Rs 50 lakh for the Armed Forces Flag Day fund here on Monday.
The 78-year-old businessman has handed over the donation in the form of Cheque, to Governor and Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Chairperson Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, at Raj Bhavan here.
The Governor appreciated the goodwill gesture and kind heartedness of Mr Vishwanatham and honoured him by presenting him a shawl.
She said that his kind gesture will go a long way in the welfare of Ex-Servicemen and their families.
The Nation celebrates Armed Forces Flag Day on December 7 every year to commemorate the monumental sacrifices made by the Armed Forces personnel in defending the territorial integrity of our Sovereign Nation both during War and Peace.
As a token of gratitude and social responsibility, Armed Forces Flag Day Fund has been established by the Government in 1948 to rehabilitate and restore the honour of War Veterans, War Widows, disabled soldiers, Ex Servicemen and their families.
The fund is managed at the State level by State Managing Committee.
Governor of the State is Chairman of the Committee, Chief Secretary is Vice-Chairman, Senior IAS Officers, Serving and Retired Defence Officers are members.
Citizens, Corporates, employees of Government and other PSUs contribute voluntarily for the fund by donating amounts, purchase of Car Flags and stickers and contributions.
