Speaking about the solutions offered to meet the challenges faced by the hospitality sector, Kabir Udeshi, Co-Founder, Flycatcher Technologies LLP,
said the Hospitality sector in the country wants to cut extra costs as well as play a responsible role in dealing with the pandemic.
"The Hospitality sector generates a large amount of wet (Kitchen waste) waste every day which needs to be handled in the right manner. We have a solution to waste management as well as the use of fuel for cooking. The Flycatcher bio-digesters provide solutions to wet waste management and also produce biogas as well as a natural fertilizer. This is one way the hospitality sector can save cost instead of opting for an LPG source. Here the Industry is being responsible towards the waste dumping issue as well as saving up on the expenditure on buying LPG," they said.
Revealing the future plans, especially for Goa and Maharashtra, he said the public and private sector in the country is looking to cut overhead costs to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. This technology can assist the public sector and businesses to dramatically increase levels of hygiene and rationally reduce their fuel-related costs in a big way.
"Our focus in Goa is to make businesses self reliant and in that aspect we have our biodigesters installed at various organisations across Goa. The Corporation of the City of Panjim has installed ‘The Rhino Digestor’ and will see the CCP reducing cost drastically over the next few months. It must be noted that there is a link established between levels of sanitation and COVID Hotspots. For example in Mumbai, most containment areas are in slums where hygiene is poor," they said.
"In the housing complex section of society, we have been running our biodigesters at Kamat Estate in Panaji that is treating all their waste and supplies the gas to a restaurant in the complex, this restaurant has replaced its LPG gas requirements with Biogas
Urban Local Bodies (ULB) that invest in this model will save manpower and transportation costs in the long run. Additionally, the community will benefit from better health and hygiene," they added.
