The sectoral indices led by Consumer Durables, Materials, FMCG, IT
and Technology advanced by up to 2.60 per cent.
Oil and Gas was the sole loser down by 0.21 pc.
Top gainers were Yes Bank, Sun Pharma, Asian Paints, Kotak Mahindra
Bank and Axis Bank, surging by up to 7.29 pc.
Major losers were HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Hero MotoCorp, Adani
Ports & SEZ, ICICI Bank, Maruti Suzuki India, declining by up to
1.63 pc.
Public lender State Bank of India climbed 3.16 pc on Monday's
announcement that the executive committee of central board of the
Bank will meet on Wednesday to consider the status and decide on
raising long-term fund in single/multiple tranches upto USD 1.25
billion through a public offer and/or private placement of senior
unsecured notes in US Dollar or any other convertible currency
during January to March, 2019.
Overseas, European stocks were trading higher Tuesday, as the
world's two largest economies, China and the United States, sought
to push forward with the next stage of trade talks.
