Bukhari, Khan, Dhar meet J&K Governor

Srinagar, Sep 25 (UNI) Former minister and MLA Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Chairman State Commission for Backward classes Jeet Lal Gupta, Chairperson J&K Accountability Commission met Justice (Retd) B A Khan and member of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) Vijay Dhar besides Governor Satya Pal Malik here, an official spokesman said on Tuesday evening.
He said Mr Bukhari apprised the Governor about the issues of the agitating SSA teachers and the overall political scenario in the state.
The Governor urged Mr Bukhari to continue his sustained efforts for promoting growth and the welfare of the people of the state.
Meanwhile, Mr Gupta briefed the Governor about the functioning of the Commission and the various steps being taken to promote and protect the social, educational, economic and cultural interests of the Backward Classes in the state. He also apprised the Governor about the various important matters concerning the Backward Classes which are still pending decision at various levels.
The Governor stressed on the importance of all required measures being taken for protecting and advancing the interest of the Backward Classes.
Justice Khan briefed the Governor about the functioning of the Commission and the various steps being taken to inquire into the grievances and allegations against public functionaries and for matters connected there with.

The Governor attached high importance to maintaining accountability, transparency and efficiency during disposal of official tasks in order to serve the people in a better way.
Mr Dhar and the Governor discussed about the initiatives required by the Shrine Board in making annual pilgrimage to the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnathji more comfortable and safe.
They discussed about the vital importance of providing new avenues to youth in arenas of sports and extracurricular activities for their holistic development.
