Budget session likely in first week of July

Puducherry, Jun 13 (UNI) The budget session of the territorial assembly is likely to commence in the first week of July.

To facilitate the same, consultation meetings on budget preparation commenced here on Thursday with the departments coming under Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao such as Health,Tourism, Fisheries and Art and Culture etc.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy presided over the meeting which was attended by Mr Rao, Chief Secretary Ashwini Kumar, Secretary and Health Department director and among others.

Though it was a usual practice to present a full-fledged budget in February or March every year, due to various reasons including financial crisis and reduction in central grant the government refrained from presenting a full budget in March for the last several years.
Instead a vote-on-account to meet the expenditure of the government for the first four months of every financial year was presented.

With the vote on account for Rs 2,703 crore was presented on March 2 this year will come to a close on July 2 and hence the full budget will have to be presented.
In view of this, the budget session of the assembly is likely to commence in the first week of July.
