Budget Session comes to close; LS adjourned sine die

New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) The Budget session of the Lok Sabha today came to a close after passing several key legislations, including the four GST Bills. The closing moments also saw the presence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "It was a productive and meaningful session, which was good for the image of the House’’ Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said. The session which had 29 sittings worked for over 176 hours to pass many other important business besides completion of the Budgetary process. It also passed the Maternity Benefit Bill, the Enemy Property Bill, the Motor Vehicle Bill, the Constitution 123rd Amendment Bill, the Mental Health Care Bill and HIV and AIDS Bill, etc. Ms Mahajan, while announcing the adjournment of the House sine die, said that the 11th session of the 16th Lok Sabha was unique in many ways as for the first time it completed the budgetary process before April 1, because of which allocations could be made for carrying on work at the start of the financial year.
