New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the latest political development in Karnataka shows that the money and the power is not everything, but "the will of the people is".
Reacting shortly after the BJP Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa announced his resignation shortly before the keenly awaited trial of strength in the state assembly, Mr Gandhi told reporters in Delhi that
"I am very proud to say that the BJP has shown that in India power is not everything, in India money is not everything, in India corruption is not everything, in India the will of the people is everything".
Mr Gandhi blasted the BJP legislators in the state assembly including the outgoing Chief Minister Mr Yeddyurappa and the Protem Speaker KG Bopaiah for disrespecting the national anthem at the end of the days' session.
"Precisely this is what we are fighting. The BJP, the RSS and Prime Minister Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah do not have any respect for any institution in the country", he said adding the saffron party had earlier shown similar disrespect to the people's mandate in the state like Karnataka, Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya.
