BSNL partners with Tata Communications to deliver high-quality mobile experience

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), India’s leading telecom operator, has partnered with Tata Communications, a leading provider of A New World of CommunicationsTM, to deliver a high-quality mobile experience and accelerate how its subscribers use WiFi internationally.
In an industry first, BSNL has deployed Tata Communications’ WiFi+, WiFi cloud communication solution, giving its subscribers seamless access to 44 million WiFi hotspots in more than 100 countries including international flights and rail systems.
WiFi plus allows BSNL subscribers access to the single largest global WiFi network in the world while travelling outside India. Typically accessing WiFi hotspots is very cumbersome and requires the user to remember multiple passwords. With WiFi plus, BSNL users will have to register just once to automatically connect to the closest participating WiFi hotspot, even if they travel to a different city, country or continent.
“BSNL is the first among the Indian Mobile operators to have taken this big step forward towards how mobile subscribers use WiFi internationally. It removes the friction from accessing WiFi and makes it simple to use WiFi data,” said Anupam Shrivastava, Chairman and Managing Director, BSNL.
“BSNL mobile subscribers can access WiFi anywhere in the world without worrying about the bill shock when they get home and no longer have to limit their internet usage while abroad,” he added.
BSNL is the leading provider of mobile and wireline services in India with 94.36 million mobile subscribers and 13.88 million wireline customers. It is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and innovative solutions in every corner of India. BSNL is continually evolving its mobile offering with services that deliver a high-quality mobile experience.
“WiFi plus changes how subscribers experience WiFi and simplifies how they get connected to the internet and use their applications while travelling abroad. We are really proud of this partnership with BSNL and how it is delivering innovative mobile experiences to BSNL subscribers,” said Christopher Almeida, Senior Vice President, Service Provider Group at Tata Communications.
