BSNL launches 4G services in Punjab

Chandigarh, Jan 13 (UNI) State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL) today launched its high speed 4G services in Punjab.
On the occasion NK Gupta, Director(CFA), BSNL, here said 4G services have been launched in collaboration with technology partner Gemini Communication Ltd using PointRed's 4G Technology which will provide high speed data up to 100 Mbps and customers will be able to download large files within few seconds which at present take hours.
“This is soft launch of 4G services and we are planning to launch the services in other parts of the country in next few months keeping in view the availability of spectrum and due process of bidding, he said and added that to provide high speed internet access through Wi-Fi, we have installed 650 Hot Spot in 250 prominent locations in the country and expand these numbers as the need arises.”
To a question Mr Gupta said that BSNL has been continuously improving its performance in telecom business with increase in good number of customers in mobile phone connections especially in prepaid segment and Broadband connections. However, it suffered decrease in land line connections due to expansion of Mobile telephony.
