BSF seize 23 kg of heroin and Pakistani network wifi router from Punjab border

Jalandhar, Jan 17 (UNI) Border Security Force on Friday seized 22 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin near BoP Chontra in Gurdaspur sector. The troops recovered 90 rounds, two pistol magazines, three cell phones including two smart-phones, Wi-Fi connectors and a pipe from near the post.

A spokesperson of the BSF headquarters of Punjab Frontiers said that the BSF troops deployed at the BoP Chontra observed movements of some suspicious persons ahead of the Border Security fence early Friday morning at about 3:59 am and challenged them but they continued to advance towards the Border Security Fence. In order to stop their misadventure, the troops opened fire on them following which the miscreant ran towards the Pakistan Territory taking advantage of dense fog. During search conducted early this morning, the troops recovered 22 packets of heroin weighing about 23 kg, 90 live cartridges (Lot FAF 7.63 mm), two smart-phones, one normal cell phone, one JAZZ WI-Fi Router (Pakistan Network) and a pipe used for dropping drugs into the Indian Territory.

Value of the heroin seized is said to be Rs 115 crore in the International market.

This is first big consignment recovered by the BSF at the Indo-Pak border during the first month of the current year. The spokesperson said that this year till today, the BSF had seized 51.307 kg of heroin from Punjab border valuing Rs 256.50 crore and also had apprehended 9 Pakistani intruders.
