BSF retaliation destroys Pak Rangers' posts, bunkers: IG Jammu Frontier

Jammu, Nov 2 (UNI) BSF retaliation to the Pakistan firing caused damage to the Rangers, posts and bunkers across the border, said IG BSF Jammu Frontier D K Upadhyay. "Pakistan indulged in unprovoked and relentless firing all along International Border of Jammu in Ramgarh, Arnia and R S Pura Sectors throughout yesterday," Mr Upadhyay told reporters here. "The dastardly attack that began at 0600 hrs in the morning yesterday and continued till late afternoon, largely targeted civilian populations in Indian border villages with heavy firing by automatic weapons and mortar shelling, causing injuries and casualties to innocent civilians along the International Border of Jammu in Ramgarh, Arnia and R S Pura sectors," he added. He said two women and three children succumbed to their injuries. "Thirteen civilians have also been injured in intermittent firing out of which the condition of three remains critical," he said adding that the Indian retaliation was measured and accurate, and aimed at military targets, rather than Pakistan civil population. "An accurate and coordinated fire assault by the BSF executed with complete precision, destroyed a number of Pak forward morchas and posts," said Mr Upadhyay. He added that according to inputs several casualties of Pak Rangers and serious damage to 14 Pak Rangers Posts and numerous defence bunkers were caused. "Always sensitive to Human Rights concern, BSF refrained from inflicting any civilian damages on Pak side," he added and said that Pakistan also continued to pursue the strategy of unprovoked cross border firings and shelling to push infiltrators, terrorists into India, which are being continuously foiled by the alert BSF troops.
