After eight days long agitation against the settlement of Brus in Kanchanpur where a demonstrator was shot dead in police bullet and a fireman was lynched on Nov 21 last, MBDPF leaders and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman held meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and Tribal Welfare Minister Mevar Kr Jamatia last evening to expedite the process of settlement.
Deputy Chief Minister Dev Varma informed them that the locations of the settlement would be carried out in the forest land and the state government has so far proposed 13 locations for rehabilitating displaced Brus in Tripura but the process would start only after getting the clearance of forest land diversion for habitation purpose from Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change.
