Brig. Mishra assumes additional charge as Meghalaya governor

Shillong, Oct 4 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retired) was on Tuesday sworn in as Governor of Meghalaya at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan.
Mishra, 83, who has been serving as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh since January 2017, was administered the oath of office Justice of the Meghalaya High Court Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew. He will continue as Arunachal Pradesh governor with additional charge of Meghalaya, until regular arrangements are made, officials said.
Mishra replaces Satya Pal Malik, whose tenure expired on October 3.
Speaker Metbah Lyndoh, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh, Meghalaya police chief L.R.Bishnoi and Chief Information Commissioner H. Nongpluh and defence officials were among those present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is currently on ‘official tour” outside the state, has welcomed the new governor to the state.
“Congratulations and best wishes to @BrigMishra Ji as he takes charge as the Governor of Meghalaya. Look forward to his counsel and support as we further Meghalaya’s development. We welcome him to our beautiful State!” Sangma noted on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Governor Mishra praised Shillong its neatness and said, “It is a wonderful place and this is not my first visit. I had come here in 1971 War . This is 101 Camp Area . We participated in the war and defeated Pakistan. It is a wonderful place and wonderful people , so good so clean , I am impressed .” UNI RRK SSP
