Borewell incident: TSCPCR urges District collectors to ensure proper implementation of safety measures

Hyderabad, Jun 4 (UNI) In the wake of the death of a small boy after accidentally falling in uncapped borewell in Medak District, Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TSCPCR) urged all District Collectors to instruct the concerned authorities and drilling agencies in the districts to ensure the proper implementation of safety measures without fail.
In a statement here on Thursday, Commission Chairperson J Srinivas Rao said it has come to the notice of the Commission that recently a small boy died after accidentally falling in to uncapped bore well in Medak district. Similar incidents have been taking place time and again due to negligence at various levels. It's a matter of serious concern for the Child Rights Commission.
The Supreme Court has also issued an order- "Measures for Prevention of fatal accidents of small children due to their falling into abandoned borewells and tubewells - WP (C) No.36 of 2009". It is observed that the concerned authorities are not taking enough steps to prevent such fatal accidents.
