Border talks to resume after Assam polls, says Meghalaya CM

Shillong, Jan 15 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday said that talks to resolve the border dispute with Assam will resume after the assembly elections in Assam.
“Elections are around the corner, so politically speaking, the current dispensation there (in Assam) and the government is not in a position to engage right now," Sangma said
The second phase of border talks aim to resolve the remaining six areas of difference between the two states, building on the progress made in 2022 when they signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to settle six points of dispute.
