Bombay HC orders EOW to register FIR against corrupt MHADA officials

Mumbai, Sep 18 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the Economic Offences Wing to register an FIR against the corrupt officers of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).
The legal wrath will fell on the officials, who allegedly didn't take steps for preventing probable loss due to the developers, who are redeveloping cessed buildings, but not handing over a part of the building back to the MHADA.
Division bench of Justices S Dharamdhikari and Sandip Shinde passed the order, while hearing the PIL, filed by RTI activist Kamlakar Shenoy.
In his PIL, Mr Shenoy alleged that 30 lakh sq mt area across the city was supposed to be returned to MHADA.
However, owing to the nexus between the builder and the housing authority, the state bore the brunt of losses, he added.
