Bombay HC allows withdrawal of plea seeking CBI probe into Rohit Arya encounter case

Mumbai, Nov 11 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Tuesday allowed a petitioner to withdraw her plea seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged "fake encounter" of Rohit Arya, a 50-year-old man who held 17 children captive in a Mumbai studio but was later shot dead by the Mumbai Police during a rescue operation last month.
A Division bench of Justices Ajey Gadkari and R.R. Bhonsale while allowing the petitioner to withdraw the plea, granted liberty to file a private complaint before a metropolitan magistrate.
The petition, filed by Shobha Buddhivant, alleged that Arya was killed "under the pretext of self-defence and retaliation at the behest of a political leader."
