Bollywood hails homosexuality judgement, calls it historic

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) Bollywood on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court order to decriminalise homosexuality, calling it a historic decision.

Celebrities from Karan Johar to Aamir Khan to Hrithik Roshan to Dia Mirza to Vishal Dhadlani to Abhishek Bachchan welcomed the apex court verdict.

Calling it a 'historic' judgement, filmmaker Karan Johar said, 'Historical judgment!!!! So proud today! Decriminalising homosexuality and abolishing #Section377 is a huge thumbs up for humanity and equal rights! The country gets its oxygen back! '

Hailing the verdict, Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan said, 'Which are the other remnants still keeping our society in the dark ages? #Section377Verdict evolution."

Welcoming the Supreme Court order, actress Kriti Sanon said, 'Proud to be an Indian today! What a news to wake up to! Love has no rules or conditions.. and that's how it should be!'

'So happy that we’ve taken a much needed step towards freedom.. freedom to be who you wanna be and with who you wanna be!,' playback singer and composer Vishal Dhadlani said.

Welcoming the Supreme Court order, Aamir Khan tweeted a video from his show Satyamev Jayate and wrote, "We thank the Supreme Court for its decision to strike down Article 377. It is a historic day for people who believe in equal rights for all. The judiciary has done it’s duty, and now we must do ours."

Actor Manoj Bajpayee also welcomed the court order. "Congratulations to the LGBTQ COMMUNITY and fellow citizens. Its a victory for all of us. Thank you honorary Supreme Court for instilling our faith in our judiciary and democracy. Professor Siras must be a happy man up there,' Bajpayee sai.

Shweta Bachchan also expressed her happiness on the verdict.

Expressing happiness on the verdict Vidya Balan said, 'I am what I am”... Hail the SupremeCourtofIndia Grateful that so many people i love won’t need to live in fear of ‘being found out’ anymore.'

Welcoming the Supreme Court order, Preity Zinta wrote, "If you have a heart you should be free to love who you want. So Happy to hear that the Supreme Court of India has abolished #section377 decriminalising Homosexuality #equality #lgbtrights #nodiscrimination #ting."

Varun Dhawan also expressed happiness on the verdict. "A law implemented in 1860 is now abolished. A day for our entire nation to live with pride. Bye bye #sec377 #lovealllovefree #historic,"he said.

"Stand tall in honour with pride #LGBTQ,' John Abraham tweeted.

Hailing the order, Kalki Koelchin wrote, "So happy today, thank goodness for the rainbow (and all the lawyers that helped put it there!)."

Giving a thumbs up for the apex Court judgement, Farhan Akhtar, giving a happy farewell to Section 377, wrote, "Bye bye 377. Thank you #SupremeCourt #abouttime #nomorediscrimination #loveislove @MardOfficial."

Rajkummar Rao, also hailed the verdict. "Historic verdict by Supreme Court today. #377,' he said.

Taapsee Pannu took to Twitter to voice her happiness, "My India of 2018!!!! Truly heartening ! Let’s embrace one n all and their choices," she said.

Welcoming the Supreme Court order, Arjun Kapoor wrote, "Sanity prevails for once we can believe we have some sensible decision makers and lawmaker s available to this generation. #Section377 gone with the wind."

Dia Mirza said that this day should be the day of equal rights.
