Blueprint being prepared to make Goa logistics hub: Suresh Prabhu

Kundaim, Goa, Oct 21 (UNI) Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu on Sunday said that his ministry is working on preparation of a blueprint to make Goa a logistics hub.
Speaking to reporters after a Green Building Centre here, he said, ''Goa has port, railway connection and airport so we have decided to make it new a logistic hub. We have sent a team already and the team is working on the possibility. We are preparing a blue print for that and state government of course will have to be part of that.''
Stating that Goa should be capital of start ups not only nationally but globally, he announced that on December 7 an international event will be organised in Goa wherein representatives of all the big financial institutions from across the world will participate.
''We feel that Goa should be the national capital for start ups. Not just nationally but globally because so many people like to come (here). So we will organise start up union every year in Goa. On December 7 we are doing something very interesting bringing all the finance community of the world to Goa and will make sure that they provide support to this idea. It is for the first time. I do not know how many will come but we have invited and we will do it every year.''
The union minister said that Goa would eventually become a centre where financial community would come and converge every year.
He said the government was also working to ensure that new airport being constructed at Mopa in North Goa was completed on time.
''We are also working to make sure that the new airport in Goa is constructed on time. If there are any issues we have already discussed that with the state government. I am happy Mr Parrikar (Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar) is already there,'' he said.
Mr Prabhu said his ministry was also working on agriculture export policy which will benefit farmers of Goa.
''We are working on agriculture export policy which will ensure that Goa farmers get due share of the labour in terms of getting better prices for their produce,'' he said.
He said the Centre was working new industrial policy also which could be announced anytime.
