Black money Act: Apex court stays Delhi HC order

Black money Act: Apex court stays Delhi HC order

New Delhi, May 21(UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed a Delhi High Court order in connection with the retrospective applicability and implementation of the black money Act.
A vacation bench, headed by Justice Arun Mishra and also comprising Justice M R Shah, issued notice to lawyer Gautam Khaitan, a VVIP chopper deal scam accused, also facing charges over tainted money.
"We stay the Delhi High Court order in connection with the retrospective applicability and implementation of the black money law," the bench ruled.
Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Union of India, submitted that the Delhi High Court order on the issue may also affect other similar cases.
The Centre had yesterday moved the apex court and mentioned before it for an urgent hearing into the issue on the applicability of the black money Act.
Delhi High Court had stayed the proceedings against Mr Khaitan, over questions on the retrospective effect of the 2016 law.
