BJP to fight alone in local body elections: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, Jan 18 (UNI) Union Minister and BJP State president G Kishan Reddy on Saturday clarified the BJP would fight in the local bodies elections without any alliance with any party.
Kishan Reddy also exuded confidence that the saffron party would emerge victorious in the three MLC elections.
In an informal chit chat with media persons here, Kishan Reddy said that the ruling Congress party and also the then BRS government have ‘no voice’ as they have failed to release funds to the panchayats and even pay salaries for employees in rural areas.
The BJP would contest all local body polls, he said the election of Mndal Presidents had already completed and most of the presidents are below 40-years, however for the district-level committee Presidents election process is underway and after completion of this, the state-level President would be started.
The party has more than 45 lakh strong memberships and membership drive is still continuing, he informed.
Since last seven months, the State government had failed to arrange funds for establishing streetlights in GHMC limits , the Union minister alleged the state government was diverting funds generated through sale of beer and brandy and it reflected the financial position of the State government.
When asked about freebies offered by Congress party in the state, he said ‘ We are not against any welfare schemes but should maintain a balance on revenues and expenditure of the states’.
Regarding the new BJP State president, he said any person, including an MP or MLA or those without any position could become the State president. It was not mandatory that the person should have an RSS background.
The party high command would select a candidate after considering the State leaders recommendations, he said.
To a question, the BJP was not against Musi Riverfront Development Project but the government to execute the project without demolishing the houses of the poor, he demanded.
