Chandigarh, Dec 19 (UNI) Registering a thumping victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday swept the polls to all five Mayoral posts in the elections held to the Municipal Corporations of Karnal, Yamunanagar, Panipat, Rohtak and Hisar in Haryana.
Making an announcement after winning all the five Mayoral post of the Municipal Corporations here at a news conference, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the BJP candidates defeated their rivals supported by the Congress and other political parties with comfortable margins. He attributed the victory to the people and party's workers of the state and government's developmental achievements, policies & programes and corruption free administration. "We have worked with mission of an equitable development in the state and will continue to do as per aspirations of the people of the state," he added.
Chief Minister said that BJP had fought these elections on the party's symbol and none of the other parties including Congress could muster courage to fight the elections on their symbols. However, opposition parties supported the rival Mayoral candidates but they all had to bite the dust in these elections. He said of the total 110 wards the results of 108 wards have been announced and party has won in 62 wards and other who won as independent many of them have announced support to BJP.
