BJP’s religion is corruption: Rahul on campaign trial

BJP’s religion is corruption: Rahul on campaign trial

Ujjain, Oct 29 (UNI) On the campaign trail for the upcoming November 28 polls for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre for 'ignoring the interests of the poor to favour a few of its favourite corporates.'

Corruption is the religion of the BJP, Mr Gandhi said while addressing a public rally here.'The BJP talks of religion. But the main religion of the BJP is corruption.'

He attacked the Narendra Modi government on the big-ticket Rafale aircraft deal and the 'non-fulfillment' of the promise of implementing one-rank one-pension for ex-service personnel. Mr Gandhi said 'ex-servicemen have told me that wherever Mr Modi goes he claims that one-rank one-pension has been implemented though the truth is that till date it has not been implemented. Clearly, Mr Modi is telling a lie.'

Training his guns on the Prime Minister on the Rafale deal, Mr Gandhi said,' Mr Modi told the French President that for the purchase to go through the offset contract would go to Anil Ambani and not state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The Central Bureau of Investigation director was about to begin a probe in Rafale deal. So out of panic, Mr Narendra Modi removed him at midnight.'

Accusing the Centre and the Shivraj Singh Chouhan dispensation in Madhya Pradesh of ignoring the interests of the poor to favour a few corporates, Mr Gandhi said,' In Ujjain, when a poor woman fails to pay her electricity bill which amounted to Rs 1,00,000, the Government arrests her. On the other hand, when people like Vijay Mallya abscond with Rs 9,000 cr, no action is taken.'

He alleged that diamantaires Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi fled with thousands of crores, which was the amount Congress put in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in one year.

'We don't want an India where rich people take your money and run to London and US,' the Congress chief said.

Charging the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government with destroying the education system and industry in MP, the Congress president said,' In Vyapam scam, 50 people are killed and the education system is destroyed.'

Chief Minister Chouhan, Mr Gandhi averred, destroyed the textile industry which had the capability to compete with Chinese and Bangladeshi industries.

He said that if the Congress comes to power, it will reinvigorate the textile industry.

Lauding the work done by Congress cadre over the past 15 years against the alleged corruption in the Chouhan government, Mr Gandhi said,'the party workers have been standing against the corruption of the Shivraj Singh dispensation. The government in Madhya Pradesh will be that of the Congress workers. Whether it is a minister, a Member of Legislative Assembly or the Chief Minister, the doors of their offices will always be open for the ordinary Congress worker.'
