New Delhi, Jan 12 (UNI) The BJP's poll strategy and campaign narrative should revolve around Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership as no one can stand it, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said here on Saturday and the party's political resolution adopted at the National Convention said the choice for the voters should be between an opportunistic alliance and a credible leader.
"Choice is between stability or instability, between an honest and courageous leader, and a leaderless opportunistic alliance, 'majboot' (strong) government or a 'majboor' (helpless) government," said the party's political resolution moved by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and seconded by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
BJP leader from Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma also supported it.
The resolution slammed the opposition parties saying they neither have any agenda for India and its people nor any leader. "The only glue is the hatred against Narendra Modi. This in many ways also exposes the limitations of the constituents of this opportunistic alliance," the resolution stated.
"All the BJP state governments have given exemplary record of development and good governance. We shall surely draw the right lessons, but surely this will serve as an inspiration for the party workers and cadres to work with renewed vigour in the Lok Saha elections," the resolution said.
In his address at the convention, Mr Jaitley said - "We should set the narrative around Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, no one can stand in front of it and if the discussion is only on leadership, then no one can defeat us. The Opposition will divert the attention from this".
"Whether it is the prince of the Congress, 'didi' from Bengal, 'babu' from Andhra or 'behenji' of Uttar Pradesh, they all want to be the prime minister and their swords will come out after the results of the election," he said.
Mr Jaitley said the new alliance making was only similar to a "coalition of rivals" and an exercise that has failed in the past.
Talking to reporters, Union Law Minister and party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad also said that the opposition parties were only united by one thread - that is their dislike for Narendra Modi.
