BJP-RSS , proxies cannot do away with Article 370, 35 A: NC

Srinagar, Nov 16 (UNI) Reacting to statement of union minister Dr Jitendra Singh that National Conference (NC) owes an explanation to people of Jammu and Kashmir for taking U-turn on Article 35 A, Chief spokesperson of the NC said BJP-RSS and their proxies will not be allowed to do away with special status of the state.
Taking to micro blogging site twitter Ruhullah Mehdi said “ You @DrJitendraSingh want us to leave the ground for you and your proxies, so that you and your proxies can take over the legislature and do away with the articles like 370 & 35A through Legislative route? Not even in your dreams. Enough of your (BJP-RSS) adventures in J&K.
The tweet of Mehdi was retweeted by NC vice president Omar Abdullah.
He was reacting to statement made by Mr Singh at New Delhi yesterday that NC owes an explanation to the people of the stater for its U-turn on 35A, because the party which had boycotted the recently held Urban Local Body (UBL) elections with the pledge that it will not participate in an election till the issue of 35A was settled.
However, he said the NC is now demanding dissolution of State Assembly and is ready to contest the elections in a bid to seek Ministerial berths, regardless of whether the issue of 35A is settled or not.
The minister said this is yet another evidence of the NC’s long history of treacherous opportunism, the most notorious example of which is the U-turn staged by Sheikh Abdullah in 1975 when he suddenly gave up his 20 year old demand for so called plebiscite, to grab the chair of Chief Minister on the terms and conditions laid down by Indira Gandhi.
Mr Singh was responding to a tweet by former Chief Minister and NC working president Omar Abdullah who had commented that it was “sensible of BJP” to have cleared stand on Governor’s rule.
Governor rule was imposed in June this year in the state after BJP pulled out from the coalition government with PDP. The Governor rule will end in December and cannot be extended as per state constitution which could led to president rule as no party or parties have magic number of 44 members in the House of 87.
