Bengaluru, Nov 19 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Monday alleged that the Opposition BJP is provoking farmers against the Congress-JDS coalition government as it was against the State taking welfare measures taken up for the welfare of the farmers.
"BJP is getting angry as the Coalition government is taking series of welfare measures to help farmers of the State. The welfare programms included waiving off farmers loan taken from nationalised Banks and cooperative institutions etc", he added.
Speaking after offering floral tribute to former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi on her birth Anniversary, function organised at Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) here, he said that "Ms Gandhi is a great leader and hence she was remembered for ever because of her works and welfare programmes undertaken during her tenure including Green Revolution, Nationalisation of Commercial Banks to enable common man to get loan and other benefits. But BJP has not contributed anything for the welfare of the people and the society, but indulging in spreading false propoganda against Congress party and now provoking the farmers to agitate against the State Government."
Alleging that since last four years the NDA government led by BJP has taken any welfare programmes, Dr Paramesdhwara said that Congress will bounce back and come to power as it is only Congress which can only protect the values of Democracy.
Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Malikarjun Kharge, KPCC President Dinesh Gundurao, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, were among others who participated in the programme.
