New Delhi, Jul 8 (UNI) Even as senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in Lok Sabha that his party had nothing to do with the political developments in Karnataka, the saffron party leaders on Monday pressed for resignation of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and said it would stage state-wide protests from Tuesday on the same.
"We demand resignation of CM Kumaraswamy and an opportunity should be given to form a new government," a key BJP MP from the state Shobha Karandlaje told reporters here.
The saffron party leaders in the state announced that as the JD(S)-Congress combine has been reduced to a 'minority' following the resignation of 13 MLAs and withdrawal of support by two independent legislators, a protest would be launched from Tuesday in Bengaluru.
In Delhi, leaders said the issue would be raised in both Houses of Parliament as well.
In addition to 13 MLAs, two Independent MLAs H Nagesh and R Shankar withdrew their support to the Kumaraswamy government on Monday.
"There is no governance at all in Karnataka now. It is going to fall anytime. We demand resignation of Kumaraswamy," Ms Karandlaje said.
Ms Karandlaje, however said the rebel MLAs were not in touch with the BJP.
In Lok Sabha after the issue was raised by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh his party and the government had nothing to do with the developments in Karnataka.
Mr Singh also took potshot on Rahul Gandhi and said the resignation saga in the Congress party was started by the party president himself and toeing his line a number of important Congress leaders have also resigned.
BJP sources have claimed that the saffron party's strength in the House has risen to 107 in the 224-member assembly.
If the state assembly Speaker accepts the resignation of the 13 MLAs, the coalition government's numbers will fall to 103.
Meanwhile, reports from Mumbai said 14 MLAs of the ruling JD (S)-Congress government in Karnataka left for Goa.
The MLAs were reportedly accompanied by a BJP youth leader from Maharashtra.
