BJP MLA among six booked for rape in UP

Bhadohi, Feb 19 (UNI) A case pertaining to rape was registered against six people, including a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and his nephew, on the written complaint of a woman in the Kotwali area of this Uttar Pradesh district, police said on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police Ram Badan Singh here said that in a written complaint from a Varanasi woman, it has been alleged that Bhadohi's Sadar MLA Ravindra Nath Tripathi and his nephew Sandeep Tiwari raped her on the pretext of marriage.

The woman also alleged that during Assembly elections, she was kept in a hotel in the Bhadohi city and was raped by multiple people for about a month.

The SP said that six people have been booked in connection with the case in the Bhadohi Kotwali.

Further investigation is underway.
