New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda and senior party leaders including Union Ministers on Sunday heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on year of India's vaccination drive, with the saffron party chief saying it was the latter's stellar leadership which made it possible.
"Exactly a year ago, India embarked on the arduous journey of vaccinating its more than 135 crore people amid the raging Covid pandemic. A task that seemed impossible was made possible under the stellar leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji. The world stood up and applauded us," the BJP chief tweeted.
Expressing his gratitude to the millions of health and frontline workers, scientists, and people of the country for their concerted efforts to make this massive vaccination drive a success, Nadda said, "Over the past year, India has come together in this fight against Covid-19."
"India has so far administered 156 crore vaccine doses, of which 99 crore doses have been given in rural India. Seventy per cent of our adult population is fully vaccinated. More than 3 crore children have got their first dose since the program began. India has led the fight against Covid-19," the BJP president said in another tweet, while highlighting about the world's largest vaccination drive.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a series of tweets, said, "Congratulations to scientists, healthcare workers, all Corona warriors and people of the country on the successful completion of one year of the world's largest free vaccination drive against Coronavirus under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji."
He further said with PM's effort, India has set a perfect example to the world that if the government and citizens unite and set a common 'goal', then it can conquer every challenge.
Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju in a tweet, wrote, "Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji, India is not only securing it's citizens but also has shown a global leadership. Hearty Congratulations Team India for the huge milestones within #1YearOfVaccineDrive."
Assam Chief Minister and BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet wrote, " A year after we launched the herculean task of vaccinating 135 crore people driven by the towering vision of Adarniya PM Narendra Modi, we look back with great pride and relief of having a job well done. Salute to the resilience and spirit of our health workers. Thank you India."
As per the latest bulletin issued by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, 156.76 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
