Bhopal, Aug 19 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh’s political temperature witnessed an increase on Friday as the ruling BJP’s state unit expelled one of its leaders – considered close to erstwhile chief minister Uma Bharti – in the wake of a recent video going viral regarding the politician making an objectionable remark against a certain social segment while addressing a gathering.
“The party can never be in concurrence with Mr Preetam Lodhi’s comment. The BJP has always respected every section. A notice was served on him and he tendered an apology, which proved unsatisfactory,” BJP state General Secretary Bhagwandas Sabnani told media representatives here.
The saffron camp drew heavy flak in the context of Mr Lodhi’s words. In fact, he was even summoned by BJP state President Vishnu Datt Sharma and Mr Lodhi – who has in the past contested as the party’s candidate from Shivpuri district’s Pichhore Assembly constituency – provided a clarification.
