BJP is responsible for Goa’s COVID Crisis, Health Minister should resign immediately: Congress

Panaji, Aug 14 (UNI) The Goa Congress on Friday demanded that Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane be sacked immediately and a criminal case be filed against him for 'wilful exposure' of Goans to COVID-19 Coronavirus and 'fraudulent' cover-up of the state of the pandemic in Goa.
In a statement, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said, “The BJP should own up and admit to Goans for having lied to them that Goa was COVID-free and apologise for the spike in such high number of cases despite claiming and parading on all media that Goa is COVID-free.”
Mr Chodankar said with 570 new cases of COVID-19 being detected on August 13, 415 on August 11 and 506 new cases on August 9, 2020, one thing was very clear that despite the effort to control ‘official data’ in terms of reported cases, Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane had not only failed to control the spike in the pandemic in Goa but also had been lying consistently since March 2020 about his department’s preparedness to control the pandemic and the actual number of cases in Goa.
