New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) A day after releasing the first list of candidates for Delhi polls, the BJP on Saturday intensified its campaign to woo the voters in the national capital by making Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas' a major plank.
BJP working president J P Nadda addressed a meeting in Tilak Nagar wherein he said, "Like Prime Minister Modiji has pushed his slogan 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas' a commitment to reach out to the last man, the new government in Delhi under BJP also will be committed to the people".
In the list released on Friday, BJP has fielded Rajiv Babbar, who has contested from the constituency unsuccessfully twice in 2013 December and in 2015.
The seat was won by AAP leader Jarnail Singh.
Mr Nadda also addressed a meeting at Rajouri Garden.
'After remaining deprived of development for a long time, Delhi has got the opportunity for development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a strong nation and welfare of the people,' he tweeted.
Tilak Nagar's population largely consists of Pindi and Pishori Sikhs - mostly who migrated from cities of Rawalpindi and Peshawar in Pakistan during the Partition . The locality also has substantial population of Jatts and Punjabi Hindus,
BJP sources said the party is reaching out to various linguistic and religious communities especially on the backdrop of strong anti-new Citizenship law agitation and violence in university campuses.
The saffron party’s jovial working president Mr Nadda has lately reached out to a various religious groups including Christians and 'Afghan Christians'.
On Friday, BJP leaders indicated that a few seats would be spared for its ally Akali Dal.
Rajouri Garden seat is currently held by Akali leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who had won on the BJP ticket.
The first list has 11 candidates from Scheduled castes for reserved seats, four women and seven from 'Purvanchali community'.
