Panaji, Feb 23 (UNI) The Congress in Goa on Saturday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not have intention of solving mining issue and so long as governments led by the BJP existed in the state as well as the Centre, there would be no solution to the issue.
Addressing a press conference at party state headquarters in the city, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson Advocate Yatish Naik said, 'Presently Goa's economy is crumbling with the government borrowing money to run the state affairs. Infact the economic survey of 2018-19 tabled in the assembly has revealed that the state's economy has suffered due to meager contribution from the mining industry. But the fact is that nearly a year post the 7th February 2018 judgement of the Supreme Court, the state and the central government have no solution to this issue which reflects that both the state and the central governments are non-performing.'
He pointed out that Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shripad Naik had stated that some solution to mining issue would come by February 15, 2019, while on the other hand BJP Goa unit President Vinay Tendulkar had spoken something else.
