BJP distorting Rahul's statement: Cong

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) The Congress on Thursday strongly asserted that the statement made by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi during the inauguration of the new party headquarters here yesterday was absolutely correct.
The party reiterated its resolve that it will continue to fight all those forces and institutions of the state, which had been seized by the BJP and were being misused.
Addressing a press conference here, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and party spokesperson Pawan Khera condemned the BJP leaders for misinterpreting and distorting what Gandhi said.
Referring to Gandhi’s speech, Baghel said that Article 12 of the Indian Constitution describes various institutions of the State, which are being misused by the BJP government.
He said, these institutions like the ED, IT and CBI were being misused by the government and the Congress was fighting against their misuse.
He said, Rahul rightly mentioned that the Congress’ fight was not only against the BJP and the RSS, but also against these institutions of the state, which have been grabbed by the BJP and were now being misused by the government.
The former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister asserted that the Congress does not need any lessons on patriotism from the RSS and the BJP. He said that while people of the country were fighting for freedom, the RSS was corroborating with the British.
He said these people were followers of Hitler and Mussolini and never believed in democracy, justice and equality.
Baghel said, what RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said, that India did not get freedom on August 15, 1947 was an insult to the sacrifices of lakhs of Indians who fought against the British.
RSS Chief’s remarks are perfectly in tune with their strong opposition to the constitution, which they want to change. He pointed out, it took 51 years for the RSS to accept and recognise the national tricolor, he added.
He reiterated that the Congress believes in constitution, democracy, justice and equality and whosoever is against these, the party will keep on fighting against them.
