BJP dismisses Alpesh joining Congress: Calls Opposition party "Drame-baz"

BJP dismisses Alpesh joining Congress: Calls Opposition party

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) The BJP on Monday dismissed Gujarat OBC leader Alpesh Thakor joining Congress in the presence of their party vice-president Rahul Gandhi as utterly "gimmick" and said Thakor has been a Congress man always and his father too held positions in that party. "He was with NSUI. He had contested a panchayat election in Mehsana district and had lost.....Alpesh's father was president of district Congress...So what's the hype all about? " BJP leader and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here. Stating that earlier too, such hypes have been created by the Congress in the name and style of Rahul-Omar Abdullah duo, Akhilesh Yadav-Rahul duo and also Congress-CPI(M) duo, Mr Prasad said, "Every time the results turned out to be different". He said in a sarcastic tone - "There was an era of films like 'Jodi No. 1' and 'Aunty No 1', today I am constrained to say Congress has emerged as Drame-baz No 1 (master of gimmicks)". "I am saying this with all seriousness....because I am talking about a party that fought for country's freedom," he said and at the same time maintained that Mr Rahul Gandhi has never shown a tendency to learn from past mistakes. "Mr Rahul Gandhi, politics of India is a serious business. Earlier, I used to say Rahul Gandhi does not do homework. He depends on script writers. Now, it appears the script writers also do not do homework," Mr Prasad said. He said the Congress has reduced politics to 'nimna stur' (lowest ebb) and maintained 'Gujarat people take politics and development seriously and that is why the Congress is out of power in the state for past 22 years.'
