BJP denies Modi meeting Owaisi, threatens to sue English daily for report

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) The BJP has come out with a strong denial of news report about Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduudin Owasi's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi this week, and threatened to sue a national English daily that published the report in today's edition. BJP spokesperson MJ Akbar described the report as politically motivated. ''It is a pernicious lie and a yellow journalism at its worst,'' he said talking to reporters here. Mr Akbar said the party may file a defamatory case against the newspaper. The legal committee of the party was examining the matter after which it will proceed to claim heavy damages from the publisher, he said. The report objected by the BJP suggested that the BJP and the MIM were in secret deal in Bihar to split the Muslim vote in the coming Assembly elections in the state to boost the NDA prospect. The MIM had recently announced that it would put up candidates in Kishanganj, Katihar, , Araria and Purnea district known as Seemanchal where the BJP had not done well in the previous elections.
