Shillong, Jan 28 (UNI) The BJP, which is aggressively campaigning in Meghalaya for the upcoming Assembly elections, took potshots at the opposition Trinamool Congress (TMC) and described its supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as a “pro-Bangladeshi” and "outsider" in Meghalaya politics.
“Mamata Banerjee has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an outsider because she is pro-Bangladeshi and supports only Bangladeshis. TMC is based only in West Bengal. Therefore, people of Meghalaya would not accept the party,” Meghalaya BJP President Ernest Mawrie said.
Dubbing the West Bengal government as the “most corrupt in India”, Mawrie said Bengal’s law and order is deteriorating everyday.
“The West Bengal government is the most corrupt government in the country,” the BJP leader claimed.
Meanwhile, the BJP has filed a complaint before the Election Commission of India on “buying of votes” by the TMC and putting up front page advertisements about its We card and MYE cards.
“We have raised an objection before the ECI against the TMC for publishing front page advertisements about We and MYE cards. They are promising to implement it if they come to power. It means that they are offering money indirectly,” Mawrie said.
The TMC’s We card is a monthly direct money transfer of Rs.1000 to each woman of a household. Similarly, the MYE card is a monthly transfer of Rs. 1000 to every unemployed youth of the state in the age group of 21-40 years.

Mawrie said he has raised complaints against the NPP regarding the Focus scheme. This scheme was implemented by the NPP-led MDA government just months before the election date was announced.

Under the scheme, a farmers group is being provided Rs. 5000 to upscale their production and piglets too are being distributed.
