Lucknow, May 28(UNI) Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party today blamed opposition parties for spreading canard against Yogi Adityanath government, saying parties like BSP and Samajwadi Party have started a 'malicious campaign' against them. BJP state president and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that increase in crime incidents in UP are because of opposition. “But this government is determined to control the crime,” he said here. He said there was an attempt to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere when some political parties tried to give a communal colour to the Jewar incident. “The statement of one of the victims that they were asked by a leader of an opposition party to give a communal colour has exposed the opposition parties. The fact is the opposition cannot digest Yogi government’s popularity and therefore it is using all possible methods to malign BJP government’s image,” he said. In Lucknow, BJP spokesman Dr Manoj Mishra too criticised opposition parties for playing politics on this sensitive issue. “Such issues should be criticised by one and all. But some political parties have given a twist to this serious issue,” he said in a statement issued here. “The persons who have committed crime should be punished. The police have been given a free hand to deal with criminals. The government is facing some teething problems because the rot of last 15 years cannot be cleaned in one day,” Dr Mishra said.
