New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Union Minister and BJP’s Central Election Committee secretary JP Nadda on Thursday announced list of 21 candidates in Karanataka and five in Tamil Nadu for the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Karnataka has 28 Lok Sabha constituencies, in which the BJP will announce the names of the candidates for remaining seats later.
In Tamil Nadu, BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan will contest in Thoottukkudi constituency where will face DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.
Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan will contest from his sitting seat Kanyakumari, and the controversial leader and BJP’s national secretary H Raja is fielded in Sivaganga..
Former state president CP Radhakrishnan is the party's candidate from the crucial Coimbatore parliamentary constituency and Nainar Nagendran, who was formerly an AIADMK man, will be contesting from Ramanathapuram.
BJP is contesting in five seats as part of the AIADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu, which has 39 Lok Sabha constituencies.
In Karnataka, the BJP has fielded Union Ministers Anant Kumar Hegde from Uttara Kannada, Sadanand Gowda (Banglore North) sitting MPs Shobha Karandlaje (Udupi and Chikkabangaluru), former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa’s son BY Raghavendra (Shimoga), Pratap Simha (Mysoe and Kodagu) and Nalin Kumar Kateel (Dakshina Kannada).
The list included Bhagavant Khuba (Bidar), Dr Umesh Jadhav (Gulbarga (SC), A Manju (Hassan) PC Mohan (B'lore Central), Prahlad Joshi (Dharwad), Sivakumar Udasi (Haveri), Devendrappa (Bellary), Suresh Angadi (Belagaum) A Narayanaswamy (Chitradurga (SC), GS Basavaraj (Tumkuru), PC Goddinoudar (Bagalkote), Ramesh Jigajinagi (Bijapur (SC)- GM Siddeswara (Davangere), BN Bacchegowda (Chikkaballapur) and V Srinivas Prasad (Chamarajnagar).
In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP bagged 17 seats, Congress nine and the JD(S) two. However, in the bye-election, Congress won one more seats and its tally reached at 10.
