BJP and Govt. set to fight 'false propaganda' of Cong on Rafale: Def Minister

New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) The BJP will strongly counter the 'perception battle' vis-a-vis Rafale deal and the baseless allegations made by Congress party, party leader and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said here on Monday and thus will counter the "false propaganda" forcefully.
"There is no way we are going to take these baseless propaganda like that....We are patiently answering all the questions raised. Moreover, now we see there is an international dimension also," Ms Sitharaman told reporters here.
In this context, she referred to Mr Rahul Gandhi's tweet making an 'anticipatory' statement on what a former French President (Francois Hollande) has said. "These cannot be coincidences.....," Ms Sitharaman said almost echoing the line taken by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley that there is a connection between Congress president Rahul Gandhi's tweet in August and the statement made by the former French President on September 21.
"It is no coincidence that on 30.8.2018 Rahul Gandhi had tweeted that “Globalised corruption. This Rafale aircraft really does fly far and fast! It's also going to drop some big bunker buster bombs in the next couple of weeks....The former French President’s first statement rhymes with Rahul Gandhi’s prediction," Mr Jaitley wrote in a Facebook posting.
Moreover, in television interview, later Finance Minister said he does not have proof but the 'jugal bandi (partnership)' between Rahul Gandhi and Hollande do raise eyebrows.
The Defence Minister wondered how could Congress leaders predict that with regard Rafale row there could be a 'bomb blast' or so.
"Earlier also Congress leaders had gone to Pakistan and sought help to nail down Prime Minister Narendra Modi," she said.
"There is some desperation in the Congress party today and they do not mind the government get blemished on whatever issue," the Minister said.
"We will go around the country to speak out the truth on the matter," she said.
Continuing his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Rafale deal, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday also posted on his social media account a video of the interview by former France president Hollande in which he said that his government did not have any choice in the selection of Anil Ambani's company as the offset partner in the deal.
On August 30, the Congress president had tweeted: "Globalised corruption. This #Rafale aircraft really does fly far and fast! It's also going to drop some big bunker buster bombs in the next couple of weeks. Modi ji please tell Anil, there is a big problem in France".
On this backdrop, Mr Jaitley had said [Hollande's claim] is in "perfect rhythm with what he (Rahul) predicted".
Earlier on Monday, BJP spokesman Sambit Patra lashed out at Mr Gandhi for mocking at Indian forces and giving a handle to Pakistan to slam India and maintained the "thread of commonality" between Congress and Pakistan should not be considered a mere co-incidence.
"Kahin Na kahin yeh bahut kucch bayan karta hae (Somehow these tweets make much political significance)," he told reporters here referring to several Pakistani leaders, including incumbent and former ministers hailing Mr Gandhi as future Prime Minister of India.
"It seems several Pakistan leaders are already campaigning for Rahul Gandhi," the BJP spokesman said.
