Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Typically, a state government would work diligently to fulfill its pre-election promises to the people. However, Telangana's KCR government and its ministers appear to be in haste to secure commissions and enrich themselves, judging by their actions in issuing tenders as state assembly elections draw near, according to Telangana State BJP Vice President and former MLA, NVSS Prabhakar.
Addressing the media at the state party office on Tuesday, Prabhakar alleged that the KCR government is infamous for deceiving the public with empty promises and is currently preoccupied with devising ways to extract wealth from the treasury through unproductive initiatives.
Municipal Administrative Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) recently initiated a project to construct bridges over the Musi River valued at Rs 540 crore and subsequently called for tenders. Prabhakar asserted that this project cannot be considered a genuine development endeavor but rather a means to secure commissions.
Furthermore, Prabhakar accused the BRS government of failing to meet its obligations, as it is unable to pay salaries to its employees and contractors within GHMC limits. Contractors in rural areas are protesting the delayed payments for completed work bills. Additionally, the distribution of free medicine at wellness centers has been disrupted due to the KCR government's failure to allocate funds for this purpose.
Regarding the renewal of liquor shop licenses, the senior BJP leader pointed out that there should be a defined time frame for each tender. However, the government has prematurely issued tenders before the expiration of the previous ones to generate additional revenue. Prabhakar also condemned the government's decision to call tenders for 30-year toll gate agreements.
