BJP & AAP govts responsible for skyrocketing fuel prices in Delhi, alleges Cong

New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Maken on Monday blamed the Central and Delhi Government for the skyrocketing fuel prices in the capital and staged a silent protest against the fuel price rise in view of the 'Bharat Bandh' called in by the Congress party nationwide.
According to the senior Congress leader, the government in centre and the AAP government in Delhi were both responsible for the rising fuel prices in Delhi as the the VAT and Excise has been increased by the government which was approved by the centre.
' They have increased the VAT on Diesel from 12.5 to 17 per cent , while 20 to 27 per cent in case of Petrol', said Mr Maken while holding a silent protest against the same outside a petrol pump in the capital.
He said that during Congress regime in Delhi the VAT was 12.5 per cent on Diesel, while it was 20 per cent on Petrol.
He further said that otherwise the Delhi government keeps cribbing about Centre not approving their plans wherein in this case the increased VAT and Excise was easily approved.
Stating that we are holding very silent protests across the city outside the petrol pumps , Mr Maken said' people are already facing problem and are at loss with the shooting fuel prices , although we want to raise our voice in this concern , but we do not want and will assure that people not to get affected by our protests.
He further said that we demand petrol and diesel should come under GST.
Our protest will be peaceful as we do not want to cause any one being affected and create any kind of hindrance in the traffic, said DPCC president.
He further said that around 21 parties are supporting Congress in this protest across the county.
Congress supporters were seen across the city outside various Petrol pumps , while silently holding a banner staging their protest against the high fuel price.
