Biocon quarterly net rises 13.31 pecent

Mumbai, Jan 22 (UNI) Biocon an innovation led fully integrated biopharmaceutical company reported a rise of 13.31 percent in its consolidated net profit at Rs 103.00 crore for the quarter ended December 2015 compared with Rs 90.90 crore in the same quarter previous year.
Total Income has increased from Rs 779.00 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2014 to Rs 856.10 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2015, repersenting an rise of 9.90 percent.
Operating margin for the quarter stood at 22.61 percent as compared to 20.79 percent for the previous year period. Operating Income for the quarter was Rs 189.10 crore, compared with Rs 159.90 crore in the previous year period.
Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 5.15, registering 12.94 percent growth over previous year period.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chairperson and managing director, said, ''Biocon's four most advanced biosimilar and generic insulin programs, Insulin Glargine, Trostuzumob, Pegfilgrastim and Adalimumab, continue to cross critical clinical milestones and are on track for regulatory filings in US & Europe in CY2016.
These filings are likely to provide us an early mover advantage in an addressable USD 30 billion market. The progress made in our biosimilars and novel programs is reflected in the increase in R&D spends this quarter to as 68 crore.
