New Delhi, Dec 10 (UNI) Expressing its strong opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and the Bill to end the nomination facility for Anglo Indian community, the Congress on Tuesday said that the Government was bringing these Bills to divert attention of people from its failure to check the slowdown in the Indian Economy.
Talking to reporters, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said ,’’after shedding crocodile tears over the minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, the Government is striking at the rights of the Anglo Indians. Under the Constitution, there is a provision to nominate members of these communities in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. However, through this Bill, the Government intends to end the facility provided to members of this community,’’
