Bihar identifies 23 bridges in critical condition, restricts heavy vehicles on four

Patna, June 13 (UNI): The Bihar government has identified 23 bridges in critical condition during a statewide safety assessment of major bridges, with heavy vehicles temporarily barred from four in the interest of public safety.
The findings emerged during a high-level review meeting chaired by Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal, who reviewed inspection reports of bridges measuring more than 60 metres in length under the jurisdiction of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited.
Officials informed the meeting that all 638 bridges exceeding 60 metres in length across the state had been inspected, during which 23 were found to be in critical condition. As a precautionary measure, only light and small vehicles have been allowed to operate while the movement of heavy vehicles has been prohibited on four bridges.

Bhubaneswar, Jul 14 (UNI) The Odisha State Sentence Review Board (OSSRB) has recommended the premature release of Dara Singh, the life convict in the 1999 murder of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor sons in Odisha's Keonjhar district, citing his "good behaviour" in prison.
The recommendation was made during the Board's meeting earlier this month, where it reviewed the cases of eligible life convicts for possible premature release.
